School Supplies
At the beginning of every school year, low-income or physically displaced students encounter the annual concern of a costly necessity for education: school supplies. Below are several programs offering a variety of free/low-cost school supplies for students in the education system.
Kitz For Kids has a variety of programs including school supply kits and literacy programs for students physically displaced or living in poverty.
Salvation Army coordinates back-to-school events and distributions for families who require financial assistance. Their support includes filling backpacks, giving supplies, clothing assistance, and other necessities when it comes to returning back to school.
This non-profit organization gives aid to low-income and physically displaced students from kindergarten to 5th grade, offering books, learning materials, clothing, and free hygiene supplies.
Bridge Care Center is a drop-in center in the Seattle-Ballard area that offers books, educational materials, and school items for young kids in addition to assisting physically displaced families by providing hygiene items, clothing, free use of a computer, and emergency financial aid.
Treehouse Cares Project is a program funded through the federal CARES Act which covers a variety of materials and resources that encourage engagement in school, including school supplies, tutoring, equipment, and extracurricular activities. There is a form on their website to request this funding.
